Washington DC!!!

Last weekend was the labor day weekend, so taking advantage of the holiday I encourage my self and I decided to visit Washington D.C. It was an adventure because I went alone..

I arrived on Saturday afternoon after a long train trip. On Saturday I visited some museums ( The Space and Air Museum was the best for me) and finally I saw The Capitol. I could hardly believe been there. It was so beautiful!!! I took a lot of pictures...

On Sunday I woke up early and I went to the Mall again but this time I went to the Natural Science Museum (simply amazing!) and then a long walk around the memorials...Washington Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and finally the White House!! I cannot describe my feelings there...it was much more better than I had expected!! This monuments that you can only see on films...I was so lucky of been there...

My trip finished on Monday after visiting the Arlington Cemetery...

To sum up, Washington was fantastic!!

A US tradition: marsmallows

Some weekends ago Euni made a BBQ. After dinner she said that the dessert would be S'mores, obviously the other Argentinias and me said WHAT????, so she explained us that S'mores are made by placing a toasted marshmallow atop a slice of chocolate which is placed between two graham crackers (I included the picture of the final result).

This is a popuplar camping tradition here, and also in other countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and UK.

Making them was very funny. A mashmallow (malva in Spanish) is placed at the end of a stick and held over a fire, with care toward safety, until it turns golden brown. This creates a caramelized outer skin with a liquid, melted layer underneath. After that you just have to prepare the S'more and enjoy it!!!

I had learnt something new, that's why I want to share my experience with you. I hope you have the opportunity to try one. It is an exciting adventure to prepare them and also a pleasure to taste them!!!

Feeling like at home

This is the family with whom I ´m living now. The one in the pink T-shirt is Euni and the others are her parents. They are very kind and funny and they make me feel as if I were at home.

We were working in the garden during the weekend (yes I worked with them, believe it or not!!!).

Actually, I was very lucky to find them because it is not common to meet people that make you feel so good from the first time you meet them.

I have to say that in addition to this family I ´ve met an Argentinian couple (Conrado and Anahi) that knowing nothing about me, they lend me their house and car (you can not believe it!!!...me neither) but here I am.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

Unfortunatelly I couldn´t see the traditional fireworks but I enjoyed a barbecue with the people who are working with me at the lab. It is amazing to see how much you can learn about a culture experincing things first hand...

Hi Everybody!!!

Welcome to my blog, this is the first time I´m doing a blog, and as you know (or not) I´m not keen on technology, so be patient and if you can do any improvement, please do it!

First, I have to thank Carla (my english teacher) who gave me the idea of creating this blog so you can share my new experiences in USA.
